Enneagram Type 7: Follow the bouncy optimistic Tigger

The Enneagram Personality Type 7 is probably my favorite, most likely
because I am a Type 7. Imagine Tigger in Winne the Pooh, always hopping
and bobbing around, usually causing some chaos too. I love Type 7's so
much I even married one too!

The main fear of a type 7 is boredom, therefore they are often found in
a flurry of events often testing the boundaries for activity capacity. Most
often they indulge in gluttonous behaviors, maximizing the pleasure.
Driven by excitement and adventure they're frequently know for leaping
off cliffs without looking. Shiny objects are everywhere and heaven forbid
a type 7 would miss one.

Some of the challenges with type 7's are trying to get one to slow down
or to catch up to one, often they are overbooked or hard to reach. Another
challenge is they don't know how to be sad/upset, it's terribly
uncomfortable and they'll find something "better" to do pretty quickly. It
can be hard for them to admit things are not well or process darker emotions.

With Type 7's...

What to Expect:
Lots of new ideas and new activities
Boundless Energy and wanting to Go Go Go
Many Gadgets or Entertaining ways to spend time
A busy schedule with lots of changes
Ignoring Thresholds or "Limitations"

What Not to Expect:
Lots of Commitment after initial excitement
Detailed Long Term follow through
Deep expression of sad/angry feelings
Ability to slow down and smell the roses
Type 7's to Follow the Rules/Guidelines

On a good Day:
Balancing the pros & cons, focused, seeing systems/patterns

On a Stressed Day:
Seeks out Right/Wrong, Driven by Status, Obsessively Rigid

How to Get Along Well:
Ask them to Slow Down when they're Unintelligible
Give them options when making Decisions
Include Fun or Rewards when making plans
Let them know there's a "Cliff" Ahead
Give yourself breaks if it's too much

Do you have a Type 7 in your Life?

Fasten your seat belt!
